Coca-Cola Roast

Coca-Cola Roast

Hello again, it has been a long while since my last post. I have defiantly been slacking in the blogging department. I would say sorry, but I’m not sorry. This little cutie has been keeping me very busy these days. Madeline is now two and a half years old going on thirteen. Between her climbing on everything in sight, throwing daily tantrums, potty training, and not to mention our three humongous dogs running around, there is never a dull moment. But I wouldn’t change a thing 😉

Onto the purpose of this post, my “Coca Cola Roast” recipe

To jump back into the blogging groove I thought why not start with a recipe post. Not just any recipe, but one of mine and my husbands favorites. It’s a roast that only calls for a handful of ingredients, and is super easy to make.  I even debated on calling this post “The Best, Easiest, Yummiest, Fool-Proof Roast Ever” because… well…it is, but instead I settled for a shorter title. 🙂

It is a fun take on my mom’s, mother in-law’s, and the pioneer woman’s recipe all combined. All three ladies are amazing cooks. To explain how easy this recipe really is, I need give a bit of back story on all my roast mishaps (I know your thinking how can anyone possibly mess up a roast) well.. trust me it’s possible. I have always enjoyed cooking but for some reason roast has never been my forte. From the correct cut of meat, to using the right spices, and the different ways to cook a roast, things can go terribly wrong.  I have over-cooked them, burned them, and just plain made them taste terrible. So I am pretty excited to have found a fool proof roast that even I can’t mess up. 🙂

Ingredients & Instructions are all below

What you will need:
About a 2 1/2 lb. Beef Chuck Roast
1 bottle of Coca Cola (Pepsi works well too)
 1 big diced yellow onion
2 cups of baby carrots
 1 tbl of garlic powder
2 tsp of salt
2 tsp of pepper
1 tbl of onion powder
 2 tbls of olive oil
5 to 6 small potatoes diced up (optional)

Instructions:
Preheat oven to 250 degrees

1.Using a dutch oven (this is key) heat on the stove top on medium-high heat. Add 1 tbl of olive oil and your chopped onions. Let them cook for about 1 to 2 minutes on medium high heat while stirring them occasionally. Then take the onions out and set aside.

2. Next add the baby carrots into the dutch oven, cooking them on medium high heat for 1 to 2 minutes stirring occasionally. Then take out and set aside with the onions. This coats the pan with a little extra flavor. The first two steps are completely optional.

3. Add in the other tbl of olive oil into the pan.

Time for the seasoning. Mix all your seasonings, together in a small bowl. Then equally distribute the mix onto each side of the roast. Then put your roast into the dutch oven, and cook each side for a full minute on medium high heat. This helps lock in all that flavor.

4. Add your carrots and onions back into the dutch oven on top of your roast. Then pour in the entire bottle of Coca Cola.

5. Pop the lid on top and stick in the oven. You’ll cook it for 6 to 7 hours.

6. If you decide to add potatoes, cut them fairly small and then add them in with your roast when there is about 4 hours left of cooking time. This is so they’re nice and soft when it’s time to serve.

After 6 to 7 hours on 250 degree in the oven you’ll have a perfectly tender, flavorful roast, ready to fed the entire family.

That’s it!! Hope you enjoyed this awesome recipe, let me know if you decide to try it out, or send me a comment below if you have any great cooking tips you’d like to share. I love hearing from y’all.

As always thanks for stopping by 🙂  And have a great rest of your week!!

Wedges, Booties, Heels oh my!

One-haute mess

Your can never have to many pairs of shoes! Am I right? 😉 Shoe shopping is one of those sacred things we as women cherish, and when you find a good deal on a pair, it’s like hitting the mother load.:) So without further ado, here are a few deals on some shoe dupes (duplicates) that you are going to want to check out.

I put together some new styles that are very similar to each other, with both high and low price points. I actually just ordered myself the black booties at the top for the lesser price. They fit like a glove.:) Now I am eyeing those black high heels as well as the lace up ballet flats!  I just need to figure out how and when I’d actually wear them. 🙂

Mommy Monday: How to get crayon off plastic

Now that I have a two year old, I find myself googling the oddest questions, most in which involve cleaning tips. Weather you are a mother, a dad, a teacher or just work with small children, crayon marks seem to end up in the strangest of places. They end up on the walls, the floors, and even inside their mouths, there is no telling where they’ll end up next. One of the places that crayon marks seem to end up the most in our home is on plastic, mainly plastic toys. So I have been looking for a safe way to get rid of crayon marks while still cleaning that same area. After trying out a few different ways I found what really works and that is still safe to use around my daughter. 🙂
(Here is the link to the easel that is in the pictures just in case your interested)
What You Will Need:
Baking soda
Damp cloth
 Mr. Clean eraser
Clorox Wipes
Mild dish soap
Sponge
Paper Towels
  •  Step 1:
Pour a small amount of baking soda onto the plastic surface and scrub over the crayon with a damp sponge using the scouring side of your sponge. After scrubbing, wipe down the plastic area with a damp cloth to get rid of all the baking soda.

    Step 2
Rub the crayon marks with a Mr. clean magic eraser.

    Step 3
Wipe down the plastic surface with a Clorox wipe on any crayon marks that are still visible.

    Step 4
Most of the crayon should be off at this point, if you still have some that are not completely gone, add a couple drops of mild dish soap and start scrubbing with a damp cloth or sponge. Then wipe away with a dry paper towel.

Good as new!! Hope this tip was helpful!

DIY Mercury Glass

Today’s post is a “do it yourself” project I have been wanting to try out for a while. I have seen this all over the internet and wanted to share my own tips on how I made these mercury glass vases. For my project, I used three different glass containers and one large mason jar. I really liked how these turned out, they are perfect for just simple decor ideas around the house or even centerpieces for a party or a wedding. The great part about this particular DIY is that it’s easy and takes not time at all. Did I mention it was easy?

What you will need:

Using a spot outside, place your cardboard on the ground for less mess. To start off this project, you are going to fill your spray bottle half way with water and the other half with vinegar. Give it a good shake to mix it up. Then shake up your looking glass spray paint, so your ready to start. Lay out your glass containers, evenly spread out, on top of the cardboard. Start spraying the inside and outside of each glass container. If you are using a bottle or something with a narrow opening, just coat the outside with paint.

This is the messiest part, so I suggest wearing gloves and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty.

Coat each glass container entirely. Inside and out!!

Then mist your vinegar and water solution all over the inside and outside of each glass container.

Then using a paper towel or two, pat off the droplets of water and vinegar to get that vintage look. I noticed when you pat a little more vigorously the more worn it looks. Don’t forget to pat the inside as well! Now, let them dry, and you are finished!! Simple mercury glass vases that are perfect for holding flowers, candles, or even makeup brushes (like how I used mine).

Hope this was helpful! Can’t wait to share more fun DIY projects and decor ideas.

Best in Beauty 2016

Today’s post is all about beauty!!
I am a product junkie when it comes to makeup, skin care, hair care, etc. I put together all my most used and most loved products for all of 2016. Most of these are items that I’ve  repurchased over and over because I know they work.

To start off I am going to talk about my favorite, which is makeup. I have always had a love hate relationship when it comes to makeup. Well I love it and it hasn’t always loved me. The past year I have had the worst allergies and makeup was one of them. I tried a new eye liner and eye shadow and things went wrong. My eyes swelled up for a solid month. So I ended up going back to my Maybelline eye liners and mascara because they are gentle and affordable. If you are having  similar issues I highly recommend this brand for their eye products. They’re both long lasting and easy to apply. Another makeup item for eyes is the Naked 2 palette from Urban Decay. It’s a palette Ive used for a while now and I love it. Its a perfect balance of shimmer and matte shades so you can switch it up. My favorite shades are booty-call, snakebite, and tease.

I also included my favorite foundation, concealer and powder which cover and conceal everything. Both foundation and concealer are from Estee Lauder the double wear stay in place line. If you have acne prone skin this will not break you out and it lasts all day. The best way of applying them is with a beauty sponge or a dense face brush. I included my two favorites, which are both from the drugstore. The pressed powder is by Rimmel London in the shade 001 transparent. It’s very affordable and you can find it in the drugstore. I have tried many high end and low end powders and this one is the one I always go back too.

For skin care I have found the brand that has really worked for me and that is Clinique. To give a little background of my skin, I have very oily, acne prone skin, and it’s been a long journey to really find what works for me.  This brand has always been gentle enough for daily use but still harsh enough combat acne. I highly recommend checking them out if you have similar issues with your skin. The other Clinique products I wanted to mention are the clarifying lotion for after you wash your face and the moisturizing gel for oily skin. These two have made a huge difference in clearing up my skin. They other Clinique items are the acne face mask, that I use as a spot treatment for blemishes and the eye cream. Both I have been using for years now.

As far as hair care, this has been the year I have really taken the best care of my hair. It’s fuller and thicker than its ever been and I truly give credit to the products that I have been using. I wash my hair every 3 days and instead of a conditioner I use a deep repair mask that I let sit in my hair for 5 to 10 minutes. It has made a huge difference in the texture of my hair. It’s the Macadamia deep repair mask. Another favorite it the Perfect 10 leave in spray. It does so many things, from conditioning, heat protection, and controling frizz, and more. Without this my hair gets very dry at the ends and hard to style. Another great tip, if you don’t wash your hair everyday, is to use a dry shampoo. I have tried many different types and I always go back to the Baptiste dry shampoo. It works well and it’s affordable.

That’s all of my favorite beauty buys for 2016. I hope this was helpful. Let me know if you use any of these items or recommend something new for me to try.

Here are all the products mentioned and a few more below with links to buy 🙂
