Homemade Christmas Plates

Needing an idea for Christmas gifts for the fam but don’t want to spend a ton of money. These footprint and hand print plates are super easy and inexpensive.

What you will need:
White Plates
(I bought mine from the dollar tree)
Acrylic paintΒ
Mod Podge
( I used the super glossy one)
Sharpies
Paint brushes
Β (different sizes)
Paint sponges

Couple pieces of paper for practice

First practice what you want to design on paper. Make sure you like your design. Then once you have decided how you want your plate to look wipe down your plate with a cloth. Then write out your quote around your plate. If you mess up no need to panic, just write on top of sharpie with more sharpie and wipe off with a slightly damp paper towel.
Now it is time for your baby’s foot or hand print. Plan for a mess. This part is definitely not easy with a little one. Mix the color you want and paint their foot or hand ( not too much paint it will smear) then hold down on the plate. Make it quick enough they don’t move the paint around.
After it dries and you’ve cleaned your little one up, its time to design. This is where you can get real creative. Using sharpie and paint you can add and create almost anything.
Here are some more that I made.

After you have your plates the way you want them, is time to bake. Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Cook your plates for 30 minutes. Once they are nice and cool apply a layer of Mod Podge using a painting sponge. Then let dry for quite awhile. I left mine out to dry over night.
These are great for the little ones to put out cookies for Santa or as keepsakes for the family.
PS. These are for display purposes only

To clean: Hand Wash Only
Let me know which is your favorite and what your favorite DIY gift ideas.
